Public Safety

On public safety, I am dedicated to supporting our emergency responders.

 

I have sponsored legislation that makes it easier for first responders who contract a contagious disease in the line of duty to receive benefits as compensation. I have also signed onto Home Rule Petitions for the towns of Newton and Brookline regarding residency requirements for first responders and the appointment of special police officers respectively.

 

Furthermore, I have co-sponsored several other public safety bills that keep ICE out of our communities, protect the public from PFAS, and close a loophole in the state’s ability to prosecute perpetrators of child sexual assault. Safety is a top priority of mine.

H.2335 A petition relative to residency requirements for members of the regular police or fire departments and fire alarm division of the city of Newton.

Co-Sponsored Bills

H.1634 A petition for legislation relative to sexual assaults by adults in positions of authority or trust. 

H.2992 A petition that the town of Brookline be authorized to appoint retired police officers as special police officers in said town.
