Education
On education, I have been focused on two major bills.
Bill H.562, which I have sponsored, addresses substance use in our schools. The bill mandates that public schools teach their students about the dangers of substance abuse — with an emphasis on opioids — and that schools make their students aware that they will not be charged for seeking medical assistance in the event of an overdose.
I have additionally cosponsored H.3594, which targets book banning in school libraries and preserves students’ freedom of expression. I am working hard to ensure that students are safe and have the resources they need to learn successfully.
